When it works, it's a joy to watch. But when a movie adapted from a book (be it a bestseller or a little known work enjoyed by just a few) gets it wrong, the resulting film can seem like an insult to both the book's author and its readers. In my opinion, Hollywood gets it wrong more times than they get it right. However, there have been some brilliant little indie gems and some critically acclaimed blockbusters that give us all reason to hope when we hear our favorite book is headed to the big screen. What movie do you believe got it right and was able to be faithful to the source material while also standing on its own as a feature film?
