Anton Yelchin's Place of Birth:

Leningrad, USSR (now St Petersburg, Russia). Yelchin immigrated to the U.S. with his parents when he was 6 months old. His parents requested and received asylum as political refugees and settled in California.

A Little Background Info:

Anton Yelchin's parents, Victor and Irina, are former figure skaters who now coach and choreograph the sport. Anton, the only child, never wanted to follow in his parents' footsteps and instead showed an interest in acting (which Victor and Irina encouraged) at a young age.

Debuts and Breakthrough Roles:

Yelchin made his TV debut in the medical drama ER in 2000. His feature film acting debut was in A Man Is Mostly Water also in 2000, but his breakthrough came with a starring role in Hearts in Atlantis opposite Sir Anthony Hopkins in 2001.
