Describing the film, Elijah Wood said, "It's about the day that Bobby Kennedy was shot at The Ambassador Hotel. So it's sort of about a cross section of all these different people's lives, different stories of days in the life of different people at The Ambassador. It ends with that tragedy to give insight into that experience, but also what people were going through at that time in our history, at the hotel itself. It's really an ambitious script and pretty incredible.”
Estevez wrote the script and will direct and play a role in the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sharon Stone will play the hotel manager's wife and Wood will play a guy getting married in order to change his draft classification. Rodriguez will co-star as a hotel bellboy with Cannon taking on the role of a Youth for Kennedy volunteer.
Commenting on his passion for this particular subject, Estevez told The Hollywood Reporter, "I met Bobby when he was running for the Senate in 1967, and he was campaigning down the street from where we lived in New York. My father was doing some work on his campaign and took me down to this police precinct where they were campaigning. I was on his shoulders, and Bobby leaned out and shook my hands."
That moment made a lasting impression on Estevez and now after working on getting the film made for the last five years, casting is heating up and filming is expected to begin later this month or in early November 2005.
