The marriage of actors Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe is all but over. Witherspoon made it official by filing for divorce on November 8, 2006 citing irreconcilable differences.
The Oscar-winning actress (Walk the Line) and Phillippe were married on June 5, 1999. At that time neither actor had major films under their belts and so apparently neither felt the need for a prenuptial agreement. Witherspoon is seeking joint legal custody of the couple's two kids - Ava, 7, and Deacon, 3. Witherspoon is also requesting primary physical custody of the kids.
Rumors had been circulating for a few years that there were problems in the marriage, but Witherspoon and Phillippe had always maintained publicly they were working on keeping their marriage together. It came as no shock when they went public on October 30th with their plans to separate.
