Kate Winslet created a lasting impression with her starring role as 'Juliet' in the critically acclaimed 1994 film, Heavenly Creatures.

Winslet's performances attract attention...it's just a fact. As of January 2009, Winslet has five Oscar nominations, an Emmy, SAG Awards, one BAFTA Award win, and two Golden Globe wins (from seven nominations).

Winslet married director Jim Threapleton in 1998. The couple had one child, Mia (born in 2000), and divorced in 2001. Winslet then married director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road) on May 24, 2003. Winslet and Mendes have a son, Alfie, who was born in New York in December 2003.
