Owen Wilson will tackle the lead role in the Paramount Pictures comedy, Drillbit, with Steven Brill (Without a Paddle) in talks to direct.

Paramount hopes to begin filming Drillbit late this summer. The story, based on an idea by John Hughes, involves a couple of kids who are picked on in high school and decide to hire someone to protect them. Wilson will play the man they hire to keep them safe from bullies.

Judd Apatow (The 40 Year Old Virgin), Susan Arnold and Donna Roth will produce the film. Seth Rogen and Kristofor Brown wrote the screenplay.

Owen Wilson recently scored a hit with the Disney/Pixar animated film, Cars. He'll next be seen in You, Me and Dupree and is filming Night at the Museum which reunites him with Ben Stiller.
