The Bottom Line
Pros
- The foursome of Travolta, Macy, Lawrence and Allen works
- Features a lot of really funny gags
- The film moves at a fairly fast pace
Cons
- The outtakes reel is disappointingly short
- A commentary track by the actors would have made this one a must-own
Description
- 'Bikes, Brawls & Burning Bars: The Making of Wild Hogs'
- 'How to Get Your Wife to Let You Buy a Motorcycle'
- Alternate ending (not as good as the one in the movie) and two deleted scenes
- Outtakes
- Commentary by director Walt Becker and writer Brad Copeland
Guide Review - Wild Hogs DVD Review
Four buddies decide to chuck their everyday lives and take off on a mini-roadtrip on their Harleys in Wild Hogs starring John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, William H Macy and Tim Allen. On the road, the fearsome foursome who make up the Wild Hog motorcycle gang (although calling them a gang is pushing it) run into all kinds of trouble including a run-in with a real motorcycle gang who don't just don their leathers on weekends.
The Bonus Features
The lengthy 'Making Of Wild Hogs' featurette includes interviews with the cast, director Walt Becker, screenwriter Brad Copeland and stunt coordinator Jack Gill. The cast and director Becker lavish a little love on each other as they talk about just how loose the set was and how everyone felt free to share their ideas and add their own lines.
Jack Gill explains the best way to convince your wife that buying a motorcycle is a good - and safe - idea in the appropriately titled "How to Get Your Wife to Let You Buy a Motorcycle" featurette. Also included on the DVD are two deleted scenes (which wouldn't have added a thing to the film) and an alternate ending that deserved its alternate status.
The outtakes reel is surprisingly short considering how much joking around the actors did on the set. It is funny, but there had to have been better bloopers than much of what makes up the reel.
The commentary track's a little slow but Becker and Copeland do a decent job of providing the inside scoop on what life was like on the set.
