Sep 8, 2008 - Two-time Oscar-winner Denzel Washington has added another project to his list of things to do. Washington has committed to starring in The Book of Eli, a futuristic drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Gary Whitta came up with the idea for The Book of Eli, a post-apocalyptic tale in which Washington will play a hero-type who holds the key to bringing America back from its wasteland status. Filmmaking brothers Allen and Albert Hughes (Dead Presidents, From Hell) are set to direct from a screenplay rewritten by Anthony Peckham (Don't Say a Word).
Washington recently completed work on The Taking of Pelham 123 directed by Tony Scott.
