Ashlee Simpson on Acting in "Undiscovered:" “I was looking, you know, for a movie where I wasn’t the lead in it and a movie where I could go and work with great actors, like Kip [Pardue]. I didn’t want to have to carry my first movie and I really liked Clea.”

On Whether Breaking Into the Music World is Realistically Portrayed in “Undiscovered:” “Yes, absolutely. I think it’s really nice, this movie, because it’s very realistic and it’s hard and there are struggles. And even if you do have success, there [are] still struggles so I think that it’s very realistic.”

On Her Favorite Scene in “Undiscovered:” “I really liked performing with Steven Strait. That was fun.”

Ashlee Simpson on Why She Doesn’t Perform on the “Undiscovered” Soundtrack CD: “Oh, I didn’t sing on the soundtrack because I didn’t write the song, so I didn’t really want to go on the soundtrack. It was fun to do the song in the movie, but my music world is also a separate world.”

On the Truth Behind the Rumor She Didn’t Bathe While Shooting “Undiscovered:” “I did, but I was very dirty. Like I would go like a week and then [take a bath] just because I felt like the character really didn’t care about her appearance and how she looked and whatnot, and I really wanted to kind of feel that way.”

On Competing with Her Sister Jessica’s Movie, “The Dukes of Hazzard:” Ashlee said she doesn’t view “Undiscovered” as competing with Jessica’s film. “Oh, not at all. That is more so ‘Jessica’s movie’ and I don’t think this is ‘my’ movie. I really love my role in it, but I’m not concerned about that.”

On Being Compared to Jessica Simpson: “It’s interesting, but we don’t listen to that. We really support each other and I think it’s nice that we both, you know, are in the industry together and it’s really nice to have the support for each other.”

On the Impact of Her “Saturday Night Live” Appearance: “It helped me because I was having voice problems, which is not fun. But it was good though because I really learned how to like, you know, you can’t go out the night before a show. You can’t. You’ve gotta be really strict. You can’t eat certain things, you know? But it was good.”

Ashlee Simpson on the Possibility of Doing Another “Saturday Night Live:” “I would love to do it. It’s not been confirmed but I would love to go back and do ‘Saturday Night Live.’”

Simpson said she doesn’t view a possible return to the show as any sort of vindication, but does want a chance to go back and try it again. “It’s not necessarily about revenge on the world. It would just be fun for me to do it - just for myself.” Will she sing or act if she makes a return appearance on “SNL?” “I want to perform, but I’d love to act and make fun of myself as well,” said Simpson.

On Future Movie Roles: “I think right now I’m going to focus on my record coming out and then hopefully after I go on tour, I’ll come back and be able to do another film. Character-wise I would love to do something like a romance or like ‘La Femme Nikita.’”

On the Possibility of Doing Another Reality TV Show: Laughing, Simpson very emphatically said no. “There are no cameras in the Simpson family anymore and we love it!” Asked if that was her family’s choice, Simpson said, "Yeah, it was time for a break from the cameras."

On Having Her Dad Involved in Her Career: Simpson said she really loves having her dad around to advise her and help her with her career. “Absolutely. Absolutely because my dad is so supportive no matter what we want to do, you know? I didn’t say like with my hair – ‘Daddy, I have black hair now,’ or ‘Daddy, I have white hair.’ No matter what, he’ll fight for me until the end. If I have a vision of something and I say, ‘This is my vision,’ my dad supports me. (Laughing) It’s good having your dad work for you.”

Ashlee Simpson on Balancing Shooting a Movie, Performing Concerts, and Working on Her Album: “Well for me playing shows is so much fun so it was nice to go back and forth and have both of them. (Laughing) Maybe I just get energy because I’m 20. It might all go down soon.”

On Movies vs. Singing: “I love doing movies so hopefully I’ll be doing more in the future. But right now I have a new album coming out so I’m focusing on that.” Simpson said the first single off her new album will be “Boyfriend.”
