The Story
The last person to leave the planet forgot to turn WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) off and so the reliable robot has been going about his business of taking care of trash for hundreds and hundreds of years. Over the decades he's developed a personality and a longing for a companion to hold hands with. When a sleek robot named EVE visits Earth, it's love at first sight for WALL-E. He'll follow her anywhere - including on an adventure across the galaxy.
The Bonus Material
Where to start? It's easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of extras on the 3-Disc edition, but attack one disc at a time. Disc 1 has the feature film and a really informative commentary track by writer/director Stanton who shares his passion for the project and provides a lot of backstory as to how WALL-E came about. Disc 1 also has two entertaining shorts - Presto (seen in front of the film in theaters) and BURN-E (a brand new short). Two deleted scenes and one of the best featurettes on sound design fill out the disc.Disc 3 is a digital copy of the feature film, and Disc 2 has the majority of the extra goodies. There's hours of material to work your way through, including a documentary on the history of Pixar which doesn't just gloss over the rocky relationship between Pixar and Disney. There's also a batch of behind the scenes featurettes on the look of the film, the characters, designing the humans, and the film's score. In addition, Disc 2 has two more deleted scenes and the scoop on all the robots. There's even an interactive storybook for kids.
Like the film itself, the DVD bonus material has a little something for everyone.
