The Hollywood Reporter reports "Lord of the Rings" and "The Matrix" actor Hugo Weaving has taken over for James Purefoy in the movie, "V for Vendetta." Purefoy was cast as 'V' but has left the film for undisclosed reasons.

"V for Vendetta" is currently shooting in Berlin with a cast that includes Natalie Portman, Stephen Fry, and Stephen Rea. First-time feature film director James McTeigue is at the helm. "The Matrix" guys - Larry and Andy Wachowski - wrote the script based on the Alan Moore graphic novel and are producing the film.

In the futuristic film, Portman stars as a mild-mannered woman who is rescued by the vigilante, V. "V for Vendetta" will hit theaters in November 2005.

Hugo Weaving recently finished work on "The Myth" with Jackie Chan and "Little Fish" with Cate Blanchett and Martin Henderson.
