The Bottom Line

If you choose DVDs based solely on the additional/bonus material, then you'll quickly pass on this little treasure of a film and that's a shame. "Valentin" has basically no extra features, but the movie itself is a real treat.
Pros
  • Gentle, emotionally touching romantic tale
  • Rodrigo Noya is geniunely charming
Cons
  • Lacks any real bonus features - but in this case that's a minor complaint

Description

  • Interview with director Alejandro Agresti
  • Original Spanish language track and English subtitles
  • Theatrical trailer
  • DVD Release Date: October 12, 2004

Guide Review - "Valentin" DVD Review

Valentin is a charming little boy (Rodrigo Noya) who wants to be an astronaut when he grows up, loves his grandmother, and longs for a normal, loving family. His parents are divorced, his mother's absent from his life, and his dad seems to have a new girlfriend every other month.

Despite his upbringing and his unusual home life, Valentin loves people, believes in romance, and has a spirit that's infectious. He makes friends with the most unlikely of people including his introverted bachelor neighbor and his father's most beautiful and intelligent ex-girlfriend (Julieta Cardinali). There's something about the boy that touches the hearts of every adult he meets - and it doesn't hurt that he enjoys playing the part of cupid when given the right opportunity.

Rodrigo Noya is a joy to watch on screen. He's not the typical kid actor, and that's a big relief as he's in most every scene. Co-starring Julieta Cardinali and Carmen Maura, and written and directed by Alejandro Agresti, "Valentin" is a touching movie that's sure to warm your heart.
