I truly believe if I hear one more person refer to the dramatic film "Brokeback Mountain" as 'that gay cowboy movie' I'm going to scream - and that's not just an idle threat.

Based on the short story by Annie Proulx and directed by Oscar nominee Ang Lee ("Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"), "Brokeback Mountain" has been wowing film festival audiences for months and its two main stars - Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal - have been earning high praise for their performances. There's already Oscar buzz surrounding the film, its director, and its stars. Now it's just a matter of seeing if the movie will catch on with regular moviegoers or will have to settle with being labeled an 'art house film' / 'critical darling' when it enters theaters on December 9th.

"Brokeback Mountain" is an American love story with two rugged cowboys at the center of the plot. Gyllenhaal and Ledger play a couple of strangers who meet while looking for work and form an intense and lasting bond. Because their love would be frowned upon if it were openly discussed and admitted to, they keep it a secret. But even after both men marry and father children, their love never fades away.
