Disney made a killing with the first Pirates of the Caribbean film so greenlighting a second Pirates film - and a third, which was filmed simultaneously with #2 - was a real no-brainer. The First Film - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, a rock star-ish, ladies man/pirate who in this second film of the series must make good on a debt to the legendary Davey Jones or else be doomed to eternal damnation. Captain Jack can't do it alone so he interrupts the wedding plans of Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) and Will Turner (Bloom) in order to drag them along on another wild adventure.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest sets sail on July 7, 2006.
