DreamWorks Animation revisits the world of pampered zoo animals who believe the grass is greener outside of the Central Park Zoo in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and David Schwimmer return to voice the roles of Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Gloria the hippo, and Melman the giraffe in this sequel to the 2005 box office blockbuster Madagascar. Even Sacha Baron Cohen is back lending his voice to the scene-stealing leader of the lemurs, King Julien.

Now, sequels are tricky beasts. There has to be a real legitimate reason for a #2 (not to mention a #3 or, heaven forbid, a #4) to exist. We all know there are too many films greenlit just because studios are looking to quickly cash in on a good thing. Far too often it's all about the money, with the story, production design, direction and casting barely given any consideration. And that doesn't just apply to live-action films... But Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa's set-up is funny, the animation is gorgeous, and the trailer gives me hope that it'll live up to its predecessor.

The Story
The penguins repair a plane and Alex, Marty, Melman, Gloria, King Julien, and his right-hand man Maurice hop onboard. But those penguin dudes aren't highly skilled airplane mechanics, and so the group finds themselves crash landing in the heart of Africa.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa hopes audiences will go wild on November 7, 2008.
