The little guy takes on a big corporation and the result is Flash of Genius, the true story of a Detroit college professor who engaged in a David vs. Goliath legal campaign against Ford Motor Company. Based on a The New Yorker article by John Seabrook, Flash of Genius was adapted for the screen by Philip Railsback who passed away three years ago, prior to the start of filming. And in an interesting side note, Philip Railsback's brother Steve is helping to keep Philip's work alive by pushing forward another one of his screenplays. Steve (best known for portraying murderer Charles Manson in Helter Skelter) will direct Philip's script for the dark comedy Barstow which takes place in the hot California town.

Flash of Genius' world premiered at the prestigious Telluride Film Festival, the launching pad for many past Oscar nominees. Juno, The Last King of Scotland, Brokeback Mountain, Walk the Line and Capote are just a few of the films showcased at past Telluride Film Festivals. Early buzz has been positive, with Greg Kinnear's performance singled out as one of his best to date.

The Story
Greg Kinnear stars as Robert Kearns, an educator/inventor who came up with the design for intermittent windshield wipers (something we all take for granted now). His dreams of striking gold with his invention are shattered when the auto industry takes his invention without adequately crediting him for his work.

Flash of Genius hopes to wipe up the competition on October 3, 2008.
