The Departed Movie Preview

Director Martin Scorsese continues his successful relationship with actor/producer Leonardo DiCaprio, teaming up for the third time with the star of his Gangs of New York and The Aviator films for The Departed, a crime thriller also starring Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin and Martin Sheen.

Scorsese's The Departed is a remake of the 2002 award-winning Hong Kong film, Infernal Affairs, directed by Andrew Lau. Like the movie that inspired it, The Departed follows the work of two moles - one inside the police department and one who's infiltrated the city's most powerful gang.

DiCaprio stars as Billy Costigan, a South Boston cop assigned to get in good with the mob. Damon plays Colin Sullivan, a criminal who's managed to worm his way into a position of power in the police department's Special Investigation Unit. When the infiltrated organizations realize there's a mole in their midst, Costigan and Sulllivan race to expose one another before being caught themselves.

The Departed hopes to stick around in theaters beginning October 6, 2006.
