Clive Owen is charged with saving yet another baby from bad guys in
Shoot 'Em Up, a no holds barred action eccentric film from the twisted mind of writer/director Michael Davis. Davis confesses to being a long-time fan of James Bond and Owen, who was once rumored to be in the running for the Bond job, was the perfect choice to take on a role inspired by the super smooth superspy. The fact that Owen's previous feature film
Children of Men also had him protecting a newborn from killers didn't deter Davis from offering him the part or Owen from taking on the job.
The Story
Mr Smith (Owen) is walking down a nearly deserted street when he stumbles into a hornet's nest of killers. The man in charge of the killers is Mr Hertz (Paul Giamatti), a businessman who's not used to having a random stranger interfere with this work. Hertz needs to kill a newborn baby but Mr Smith is making his job exceedingly difficult to do. With help from a lactating hooker (Monica Bellucci), Mr Smith has to keep the baby safe against next to impossible odds.
Shoot 'Em Up springs into action on September 7, 2007.
