Joaquin Phoenix and Jennifer Connelly star in Reservation Road.
Reservation Road is loaded with actors familiar to award show viewers. In 2005 Joaquin Phoenix added a Best Actor Oscar nomination to his resume for his portrayal of country superstar Johnny Cash in
Walk the Line. Jennifer Connelly took home the golden statuette for Best Actress for 2001's
A Beautiful Mind. And way back in 1996 Mira Sorvino won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Woody Allen's
Mighty Aphrodite. To top it off, two-time Academy Award nominee Terry George (
Hotel Rwanda and
In the Name of the Father) co-wrote the screenplay and directed the film. The only one of the lead actors in
Reservation Road who hasn't been nominated for an Oscar - yet - is
Mark Ruffalo who should have at least been nominated for
You Can Count on Me.
With that powerful cast and talented director at the helm, Reservation Road is likely to burn up some pavement heading into awards season. Reservation Road might not have as much buzz built up around it as some of the other fall releases, but give it time...
The Story
The lives of two couples - Dwight (Ruffalo) & Ruth (Sorvino) and Eathan (Phoenix) & Grace (Connelly) - converge around the death of a child.
