2007 Movie Preview

On paper, 2007 looks to be one of the best years for movie fans who love big-budget, action-packed extravaganzas, or those who love sequels. 2007 includes more than its fair share of franchise films, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. There's a decent number of sequels hitting theaters this year that actually have a reason - other than pulling in the box office bucks - to exist. 2007 will bring us what could possibly be the last film of the Spider-Man franchise, Spider-Man 3, as well as the third Shrek, Pirates of the Caribbean, Bourne and Ocean's movies, the fourth film of the Die Hard series, and the fifth installment of the Harry Potter saga.

A couple of new franchises are also launching this year: Transformers and His Dark Materials (the first film being The Golden Compass).
