One of the few franchises in which the movies improve as they go along, Spider-Man 3 has long been rumored to be the last film of the series, or at least the last one with the principal cast in place and Sam Raimi at the helm. If it is in actuality the final adventure of the webslinger, then he's going to be going out with a bang.

Raimi decided to include two villains fans have been yearning to see: Venom and Sandman. And when the first bit of footage was unveiled at the 2006 San Diego Comic Con (the venue for gauging audience reaction), Spider-Man 3 was met with a loud roar of approval. That acceptance from the genre crowd doesn't necessarily guarantee success - the audience also hoot and hollered for Beerfest - but it has to make Raimi and company proud of the product they're delivering.

The Story - Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) thinks he's doing a good job of being Spider-Man and spending time with MJ (Kirsten Dunst) but then something changes. His suit turns jet black and so does his mood. His personality changes and it's a lot for one man to deal with, even if he is a superhero. To make matters worse two super-strong villains threaten everything and everyone that Peter loves.

Spider-Man 3 weaves its web around audiences on May 4, 2007.
