The Internet was a flurry with Silver Surfer rumors back in the summer of 2006. Would the character be purely digital? Would 20th Century Fox and director Tim Story opt for the performance capture system Peter Jackson perfected in Lord of the Rings and King Kong? At the height of the rumors, Doug Jones' name was thrown out there as the go-to actor for bringing creatures to life on the screen. Jones did his best not to confirm or deny his involvement in the project while at the 2006 San Diego Comic Con, but now that he's allowed to talk about his work in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer he did answer one of the most frequently asked questions. Contrary to popular belief, Jones says he has never had to don CGI dots for a performance. "To this day I've never done CGI dots for motion capture," confirmed Jones. "I just finished a job where everyone thought that's what I did, and that is not exactly the case." Hint, hint, nudge, nudge...
The Story - The team of superheroes must face their most difficult challenge to date as the Silver Surfer comes to Earth to prepare for the planet's destruction. Not only do they have that creature to deal with but their mortal enemy, Dr Doom (Julian McMahon), also returns to cause trouble.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer catches a wave into theaters on June 15, 2007.
