Ben Stiller co-wrote, produced, directed and stars in "Tropic Thunder," a send-up of Hollywood movies and actors in which no topic – no matter how controversial - is off limits. According to Robert Downey Jr who plays an Oscar-winning Australian actor who has his skin dyed in order to play an African-American soldier, Stiller was up to the job of handling multiple tasks on the film.

Robert Downey Jr stars as a five-time Oscar-winner who goes to extreme lengths in order to star in an epic war movie in "Tropic Thunder," an action comedy co-written and directed by Ben Stiller. To say Downey, hot off a starring turn in Iron Man, took a real chance playing Australian actor Kirk Lazarus in "Tropic Thunder" is putting things mildly.

Jack Black plays Jeff Portnoy, a comic actor whose claim to fame comes from starring in an obnoxious comedy franchise about a farting fat guy (think Eddie Murphy in full "Nutty Professor" or "Norbit" mode), in the action comedy "Tropic Thunder."

Jack Black Talks "Tropic Thunder"
(Nov 2007) Jack Black was sporting short, bleached-blonde hair at the Los Angeles press junket for writer/director Noah Baumbach’s indie, "Margot at the Wedding," and it was all Ben Stiller’s fault. Black’s been busy working on "Tropic Thunder" which Stiller produced, co-wrote, and directs and, according to Black, the hair was part of Stiller’s vision.
