Uma Thurman's taking the lead adult role in the movie adaptation of the Eloise books. Thurman's set to play Nanny in Eloise in Paris, the first of what Handmade Films is anticipating will be a series of Eloise movies.
Written by the late Kay Thompson, Eloise in Paris finds the 6-year-old girl who lives in New York's Plaza Hotel traveling to Paris with Nanny. First published in 1957, the book captures the sights and sounds of Paris from a child's perspective.
Charles Shyer (Alfie) adapted the book and will be directing the film. Patrick Meehan, Thomas D. Adelman and Ron Rotholz are producing the film which is expected to begin shooting in June.
Uma Thurman was last seen on the big screen in the superhero pic, My Super Ex-Girlfriend. Thurman has The Accidental Husband opening this summer and recently completed work on My Zinc Bed.
