Billy Bob Thornton Shoots for the Stars with "The Astronaut Farmer"

Aug 22, 2005 - Billy Bob Thornton has agreed to star in the dramatic movie, "The Astronaut Farmer," for Warner Independent Pictures. The brother writing team of Mark and Michael Polish wrote the script, with Michael Polish set to direct. Filming is expected to begin in early September.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The Astronaut Farmer" follows an eccentric farmer who dreams of being an astronaut - hence the choice of the movie's title. Thornton will play the farmer/wannabe astronaut who builds a rocket inside his barn which worries his neighbors and attracts the attention of the government.

Billy Bob Thornton was last seen in the 2005 remake of "Bad News Bears" and has just wrapped work on the comedy, "Mr Woodcock, for director Craig Gillespie.
