Keri Russsell on Working with Joan Allen: “First of all, she's incredible. I can't say enough wonderful things about her — just as a person, a human being, as an actress. I think I'm speaking for everyone when I say she's kind of like our hero. She's so rare and graceful, and everything she does is her whole being. I loved that all my scenes got to be the really antagonistic stuff with her, because I got to do the good stuff with her. I think we kind of got each other in a way, which always helps. No matter how good something is written, you either have this thing with each other or you don't. Luckily, I think we did. I think it was pretty easy to work with her. She's so good and when you work with somebody that good, they kind of instantly make you better.”

Bonding With Her Onscreen Sisters: “They would all go for dinner afterwards and I would have my leotards and tights and was chucked off to ballet school. . . but it was great. And I adore Evan Rachel Wood. I love her, literally. When she turns 18 I'm going to marry her. She reminds me so much of my little sister, I think, physically. My little sister has very pale skin and very blonde blue eyes and kind of has Evan's [face] but with a longer nose. There's something about her I really adore, so that always helps.”

On Kevin Costner Fitting Into the Group: “Perfectly. I keep describing him as kind of like the St. Bernard of the story. We're like these really fiery [women], always yelling crazy. He kind of comes in - big bear of a guy - and he comes in kind of like a St. Bernard. I don't know how to put it. There's a whole generation of men right now, I appreciate them by all means, where we kind of expect men to be all these different things, like very emotional and all these other things. And Kevin is kind of that old thing. He's all man. He makes no apologies about it. He's a good guy, he's 6’2”, 6’ 3”, he's a MAN, and I appreciate it. I think he's great and so charming in this movie.”

Rating Kevin Costner’s Dancing Skills: “He was great. I wouldn't know, watching him on screen and in movies and things, I wouldn't know how detailed an actor he is. There's this great scene where he wants to come help me — mom's just been an a**hole, an appropriate a**hole, and I'm off in a room, as a young kid, 17, drinking by myself. Originally she was much more of an alcoholic, a lot more inappropriate, so I'm drinking like a great tumbler of vodka, and he comes in and he's trying to say something to me. The director wanted to add a line or something and I was amazed at how precise everything is with him — he has it so worked out. And the way he comes off is so natural. He's so planned out, so precise, and that was really interesting to watch. So dancing with him was great because he takes control. He's very in control. He's just kind of playing natural. He really has it down what he's doing.”

Being a Part of a Large Ensemble Cast: “It's a whole different feeling, yeah. It's a huge relief. Even going up to Sundance is such a fun thing because it's not just me doing it. If I'm late — who cares? I imagine it's like being the only kid in the family versus being one of many. It's good not to have to be like the Number One student and I got stuck in that a lot during “Felicity.” Kind of fun to be like the bad kid. That's how I feel in this one.”

How High Were Her Hopes of Getting Lois Lane in “Superman?” “How high were they? I would have loved to have done it, but that movie went through three different directors, so…I was just merely a part of the process. And the most recent incarnation was this new director… It may be a blessing in disguise. I mean doing a movie like that is the next six years of your life. You at least probably do two, and you definitely sign on to do three. And those aren't like three-month movies. They're huge six-month movies in Australia, which is where that movie's shooting. So it's okay.”
