Im playing Hilarys love interest. Shes trying to set her mom up with this perfect man and along the way she meets sort of, I guess, her version of the perfect boy. So that was me, explained Feldman.
Feldman on What Makes Him the Perfect Boy: I dont even know. [Laughing] I dont even know why Im in the movie. I think everyone has their own perfect man or perfect boy and I think thats sort of the message of this movie. That there really isnt any such thing as the perfect man unless its individual. I think, you know in this movie my character just happened to gel with hers. We were both loners. We were both sort of outcasts and sort of looked on from afar.
On Relating to His Character: I totally can. The funny thing is that the difference between this movie and real life is that this character in the movie, in real life would have been the most popular kid in high school. Hes so cool. Hes hilarious and hes a good artist. But I mean, I was sort of somewhere in between that. I was kind of a loner. I liked to be a little different. Im into that.
I was never the Prom King. The only thing I got was I got a Senior Superlative for funniest, which I didnt deserve. And I watched all the funny guys in the audience roll their eyes just because I was the loudest.
Being Cast in Comedies: Id love to be doing dramas. I went to acting school. I have a BFA from a theater school. Ive done a lot of drama just not on any big screens, or little screens for that matter.
Ben Feldman on Life on the Set of The Perfect Man with Hilary Duff: Ive been telling everybody I think the hardest scene was the day Theres actually one kissing scene thats not in the movie. Theres two of them but they cut one of them out, and that was the hardest because it was the first time we did a kissing scene and it wasnt that far into production. It was also the first day that I met her dad and her dad will do anything he can to make you intimidated. And her moms already kind of intimidating [laughing] in a funny way. So that was a pretty crazy day, plus theres like 10 million extras there watching it as well. But it was a great time [with] a great group of people. For a month and a half these were my best friends. We had an amazing time.
On Why the Kissing Scene was Cut: It didnt make sense in the movie and when everybody sees it, youll see. Theres something else that happens instead. Theres already a kissing scene and I think too much of me kissing on the screen and I think people are going to start to roll their eyes or go get some popcorn.
Bonding with Hilary Duff: Hilarys a big go out to dinner kind of person. Shes not bar age or anything. We did a lot of hanging out. We went out to dinner a lot; we went out to the movies. Vanessa [Lengies] and I took up painting for a little while and bought canvasses and paint, just to do something. We brought it up to my apartment and set out canvasses and painted. You do whatever you can. We were in a great city and we got to walk around and see sites and the museums.
Ben Feldman on His Upcoming Film, When Do We Eat: Thats an independent film that Im hoping is coming out at some point because its great and its hilarious. You know, somebody is going to interested at some point and its going to come out and well all see it. Its weird and I think everybody loves a dysfunctional family movie. A total dysfunctional family and Im like the druggie son who gets his dad high. Its total comedy.
