Looking stunning and sporting a smile that never left her face, McAdams was ready to talk fashion at "The Notebook's" World Premiere. Serious character analysis and other acting topics were covered at the press junket for "The Notebook" (click here to read all about Rachel McAdams, the casting process, and her immersion in Southern culture), so this short interview from the World Premiere has a much lighter tone and one more suitable to a fashion mag than a movie Internet site. But sometimes topics come up and it's hard to steer things back to the movie at hand.
INTERVIEW WITH RACHEL McADAMS:
Since "The Notebook" was set in the 40s, you got to wear some gorgeous clothes from that era. How did you choose your dress for this Premiere?
You know, I wore this in an Elle magazine photoshoot and after it was over I asked if I could buy it. I loved it so much. You know when you find a great dress, youve gotta hold on to it (laughing).
Do you know who is the designer?
I dont. Its vintage. She was very secretive about the whole thing. Its from a little known place in LA and I never really got into all the details. (Laughing) I was just like, I dont care. I need the dress.
Why do you like the vintage styles and in particular, why this dress?
It just feels like it has character or a little bit of history, a little bit of mystique. Like its been worn before. Its got some kind of a story behind it. Its something to feel good about. I like things that are a little bit worn in.
What did you think about your costumes in the movie?
Oh, I loved them. They are beautiful. A lot of them were tailor-made for me most of them were so they fit really well. The jackets were just divine. I loved all the little details, too, like veils on the hats and long leather gloves.
Are you a Southern Belle at heart?
(Laughing) Ahh, Im from Canadian so
no. Im a Northern Belle.
Are you a romantic?
Yep. Quilty.
Whats the most romantic thing youve done for somebody?
I once made a it was supposed to be a 30 minute - bean salad that took me like 6 hours. He was like, Oh, she made me a six hour bean salad. It was the best thing Ive ever tasted. I put a lot of effort into that. I dont know, I like to go on really different types of dates. Going someplace new or some new part of the city, something thats not your average thing. Something where you just go have an adventure together.
Are you single now?
Yes, I am.
Well, youre in the best spot to be single hit movies, hot career, young, beautiful
Some people would argue with that (laughing).
[Ryan Gosling approaches for an interview and so the last question to Rachel McAdams ends up being one about Gosling, when he's in close enough proximity to overhear] What's it like to kiss this guy?
Oh, it was
Uhhh, its hard to say when hes standing right here (blushing). I cant really say (laughing).
