Jason Segel Interview - The Muppets
Jason Segel loves The Muppets and he's not shy about proclaiming his admiration for Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and the rest of the gang in public. Segel, star of the upcoming The Muppets feature film as well as producer and the film's co-writer, appeared at Disney's 2011 D23 Expo as part of Walt Disney Studio's huge upcoming movie panel, and there he had the honor of taking the stage with Kermit the Frog - and a very tardy Miss Piggy. Kermit and Segel (and the tardy Miss Piggy) were on hand to show off a couple of clips from the upcoming November 23rd release, with the first clip featuring Gary (Segel), Mary (Amy Adams), and their Muppet friend named Walter driving around LA looking for Kermit's house. Once they find it, they discover there's no doorbell and have to try and toss Gary over the fence - which is electrified. Guess what happens? Kermit shows up while a church choir in a bus happens to be driving by so that Kermit's entrance on the scene is announced with heavenly background music. Then the group is invited into Kermit's house which they discover is stuck in the 1980s, complete with a robot named '80s Robot.
The next clip previewed for the D23 Expo crowd was a cleaning montage set to "We Built This City," with the Muppets gang trying to restore their old Muppet Theater to something close to its former glory.
And in addition to wowing the 4,000+ Disney fans, Segel made his way backstage (without his little green amphibian buddy) to explain what it felt like to be on the set of The Muppets and to hear words he'd written being said in those familiar Muppets characters' voices:
The Muppets stars Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and Fozzie Bear, and is set to hit theaters on November 23, 2011.
