The Muppets was a great return for the gang, but by far the best part of it for me was getting to interview the actual Muppets. So when Kermit the Frog did another round of press to support the film's ongoing release, I couldn't help thinking of more questions for him. The Muppets is now playing.
Congratulations on the movie's success. You were second only to Twilight. Why do you think The Muppets couldn’t quite beat the vampires?
Kermit the Frog: "Actually, we’re the #1 comedy, which is pretty cool. But we don’t feel like we’re in competition with vampires. We work days. They work nights. No problem."
What kind of success do you see The Moopets having after their role as the villains of your film?
Kermit the Frog: "Gee, I’m not sure what they’re doing next, although I did hear a rumor that several of them are auditioning to replace Regis."
It’s clear that the best way to make money is to put on a show. I’m one of the many who got involved in a bad mortgage and now have quite a lot of debt. Should I put on a show to raise the money I need?
Kermit the Frog: "It just might work. Do you have any talent? Don’t worry if you haven’t any, it’s never stopped us. Whenever we have debt problems, we let Miss Piggy answer the phone when the debtors call. They usually end up owing her money."
Why do you keep inviting Statler and Waldorf to the show when all they do is complain?
Kermit the Frog: "They’re loyal customers, and you never turn away loyal customers, even if they think your act is lousy. Besides, sometimes their heckling is funnier than our jokes."
As you did the press tour for your new movie, who were your favorite reporters and talk show hosts to meet?
Kermit the Frog: "Have you ever been on a press tour? After the first six dozen interviews, you go media-blind. You can’t actually see who’s interviewing you. So it would be unfair to all the fine journalists and talk show hosts to choose just one, but we did have a lot of fun with Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon. And I don’t think it’s just because their names are 'Jimmy'…but who knows?"
