"The Muppets" (2011)
Movie Synopsis: On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.

Amy Adams and Jason Segel Interview - CinemaCon 2011
Putting together the 2011 "The Muppets" movie was a real passion project for Jason Segel ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "How I Met Your Mother"), and one of the reasons he was so keen on getting the Muppets back on the big screen had to do with the tone of the past "Muppets" productions. Segel says their brand of comedy is just "sweet" and that gentle, family-friendly tone has been missing from live-action comedies recently.

Jason Segel's Heading Up a "Muppet" Movie
(Mar 2010) This news isn't in the least bit surprising. Jason Segel loves The Muppets, and way back in March 2008 while promoting "Forgetting Sarah Marshall Segel" was talking about working on a Muppet movie with his buddy, "FSM" director Nicholas Stoller.
Amy Adams and Chris Cooper Join "The Muppets"
(Oct 2010) Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones are close to signing on to the new "Muppets" movie written by Muppet fans Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller.
Nicholas Stoller and Jason Segel Reunite
(Mar 2008) The romantic comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is the first movie written by Jason Segel ("How I Met Your Mother") and marks Nicholas Stoller's directorial debut. In the film, Segel's character is a musician whose big ambition is to do a Dracula musical with puppets. And when you need cool-looking puppets for a major feature film, who do you turn to? Of course you seek out the creative folks who work at Jim Henson Productions.
