Guide Review - 'The Kite Runner' DVD Review
Youngsters Amir and Hassan are the best of friends. They come from very different backgrounds, yet they're as close as brothers. But one day when Hassan chases down a kite for Amir, he's the victim of a ferocious attack. Amir watches silently from his hidden vantage point and does nothing to help his closest friend. That decision to standby and not get involved forever changes the relationship between the two boys, and ultimately changes the direction of both their lives.
The Bonus Features
The Kite Runner author Khaled Hosseini, screenwriter David Benioff, and director Marc Forster join forces to deliver a commentary track that's informative and fairly interesting, even while being a little on the boring side. If you're interested in how the screenplay was adapted, a better choice than the commentary track would be either of the two featurettes included on the DVD. 'Words of The Kite Runner' focuses on the story, with author Hosseini describing his upbringing and the inspiration for the story. 'Images of The Kite Runner' is an in-depth examination of the film from getting the language right, to the music, to the physical sets and casting the movie.
