Guide Review - The Kingdom DVD Review
An American compound in Saudi Arabia is the site of a horrifying terrorist attack that leaves hundreds dead. Stateside, a topnotch team of FBI investigators goes against orders and takes off to investigate the attack. Although initially their investigation is stymied by the locals, and they're only given five days to figure out who's responsible for the attack, the team perseveres with the help of a high-ranking police official who provides the agents with the assistance they need in order to carry out their mission.
The Bonus Features
Peter Berg's track isn't as dry as most director's commentaries. Berg's enthusiasm for the project is evident in how he discusses the movie, and the filmmaker does a good job of including behind-the-scenes info that's interesting to audiences. Also included on the DVD are three deleted scenes worthy of being included in the movie, an interactive timeline that traces the history of The Kingdom, and a 'Creating The Kingdom' Making Of featurette.
The two best extras have to be the 'Character By Character: The Apartment Shootout' and 'Constructing the Freeway Sequence' featurettes. The 'Apartment Shootout' takes an up-close look at the different characters featured in the scene and how the shootout was choreographed and put together. The 'Freeway Sequence' lets viewers in on how one of the best crash scenes on film was performed.
