Kris Kristofferson on Researching His Role: "I talked a lot with John [Maybury] about it, the director. And my daughter had worked in mental homes after she graduated from college. I did what I could."

The Film's Negative Portrayal of Mental Hospitals: "But I felt that the character was a guy who had been affected by a lifetime of work of trying to help people. And like you say, the methods in this one are a little bizarre, but I got with it."

Filming in a Real Mental Hospital: "The atmosphere around the place was fairly oppressive – not as oppressive as our set was (laughing). But you know, I don’t think you could possibly throw yourself into that line of work for a lifetime without being affected by it negatively. And then I think that’s what happened with the character that I was playing."

On Treating His Co-Stars to a Concert and Jennifer Jason Leigh's Comments That it was One of the Highlights of Working on "The Jacket:" "Oh really? Oh how nice. I played a couple of times in Scotland and in Ireland. It was just by myself without my band or anything. It was interesting. It was good. They’re the best fans in the world for my kind of music, over in Scotland, Ireland, or Wales."

On Still Getting Something from the Music: "Oh yeah. It’s probably closer to my heart than working in films."
