Alexandre Aja on Being Labeled the New King of Horror: “You know, I loved this movie and I really respect horror movies. I want to be very cautious and very respectful. When I’m doing a movie I’m not doing a mutant, cannibal, radioactive movie. I’m doing a movie about people and I’m trying to do it as real as possible, and that’s maybe why they are a little bit more scary than some other movies made. But keeping that, I don’t want to also find myself in 20 years from now turning back and saying, ‘Okay, I did like 10 times the same movie.’ I want also to experiment with some other stuff and I want to try some other things. It’s very important to open up. I’m 27 so I have a lot – I hope – I have a long career in front of me.”

Aja said that right this moment he doesn’t mind being labeled a horror director. “Right now I don’t mind. I have so much fun doing that kind of film and I want to experiment on some other stuff. At some point I will want to try some other genre because I love many other kinds of films.”

Next on His Agenda – “The Waiting:” “‘The Waiting’ - right now we are in the middle of the casting and it’s really depending on the casting. It’s a very important movie for me. It’s something I really would like to do. It’s so psychological and so intense that I really want to be able to have the best actors. In the next couple of weeks I’ll know if I have the casting I want and if I will do the movie. I really hope we’re going to find the right people.”
