Emilie de Ravin on Alexandre Aja and Gregory Levasseurs Script: de Ravin never said no to anything Aja and Levasseur proposed in the script. I sort of went through the script beforehand with the director and talked about everything. But no, the way they explained doing everything and how it was going to be shot I mean, they had some really artistic ideas for a lot of this stuff, which is great that theyre incorporating these really interesting shots as opposed to just, Wham, bam, oh yeah, lets get more blood. They did a wonderful job. Its got that nice grainy tone to it.
Bonding with Her The Hills Have Eyes Family: We got there before the shoot and the people in the cast are family and we really did have a chance to bond, which was nice. I think thats such an important aspect to this, that you really feel that this is such a close-knit family. Theyre a normal family that just really loves each other, whether theyre getting along all the time or not is not what its about. Its that you feel for these people and being able to hang out and get to know people who youre family with is really important, I think.
On Picking Up an American Accent: I love accents so I mean its quite easy for me. I live in the States too right now so surrounding yourself by the accent that youre mimicking makes it a lot easier, explained de Ravin. This was just kind of non-descript for this movie I suppose. Theyre all fun. Theyre all so different. Accents, just for me, I love them because they create a whole other layer to your character.
Emilie de Ravin on the Success of "Lost:" Besides her starring role in "The Hills Have Eyes" and the independent film, "Brick," de Ravin is also one of the main characters on TV hottest series, "Lost." de Ravin said that she had absolutely no idea how successful the series would be way back when she picked up the first script. "No way. I mean you never know how anything is going to go. Its amazing. I really enjoy doing something that I love that people enjoy watching so much. I think basically that's what it comes down to."
"Lost" addicts want to know what's going to happen in future episodes but de Ravin said even the cast is pretty much kept in the dark. "We know what weve shot but yeah, basically we know what you know."
Playing the show's young mother means that de Ravin acts out most of her scenes while carrying around a baby. "Theyre sweet and I love kids. Its hard sometimes because with young babies you cant really tell them what to do. Its hard but its fun."
