The Bottom Line

Even diehard Gilliam fans may find it tough to sit through "The Brothers Grimm." It's not Gilliam's best work to date, but there are a few scenes that speak to what Gilliam must have had in mind for the entire production.

Guide Review - "The Brothers Grimm" DVD Review

Matt Damon and Heath Ledger star as the infamous Brothers Grimm in Terry Gilliam's twisted take on fairy tales.

Will (Damon) and Jake (Ledger) have a nice little business going on. They go from town to town, exorcising demons and ridding the naive townsfolk of witches and other beasties who have apparently taken up residence in their communities. Things are going along nicely until the French military force the two into taking on their most demanding assignment: the Brothers Grimm must face down the real thing, a wicked witch who lives in an enchanted forest.

DVD Bonus Features

Fans of Terry Gilliam are going to want to head straight to the commentary track. Gilliam doesn't disappoint and keeps the track lively with lots of asides on the stunts and effects. The rest of the bonus features are pretty standard fare.
