"Pirate Radio" (2009)
In the late 1960s, American radio stations blasted rock and roll 24 hours a day. But in the home country of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, the only way 25 million people could hear their music was to tune in…to a boat. Celebrated filmmaker Richard Curtis brings the incredible story of a band of rogue deejays who captivated British radio listeners in the ’60s, playing the music that defined a generation and boldly defying the government that tried to shut them down.
Movie Review: "Pirate Radio"
"Pirate Radio" features a cast of fantastic British actors, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, but they're not the reason to check out the film. Nor is the plot which finds the deejays exchanging witty barbs, having overnight visits from lovely ladies, and doing whatever it takes to stay a step ahead of being shut down by the British government.
Tom Sturridge Discusses "Pirate Radio"
23 year old British actor Tom Sturridge has, perhaps, one of the best descriptions of what it's like to on a movie with writer/director Richard Curtis: "It’s so disgusting to say, but making a Richard Curtis film is like being in a Richard Curtis film. It was a really good summer."
Nick Frost Talks About "Pirate Radio"
In "Pirate Radio" Nick Frost - best known for his starring roles in "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" - shows audiences that big man can be sexy. Playing a womanizing deejay named Dave, Frost's not afraid to show off a whole lot of skin. "I think I'm going to be asked to appear on the cover of All American Bear after my performance," joked Frost about his sexy "Pirate Radio" scenes.

Talulah Riley on "Pirate Radio"
Talulah Riley's only 24 years old but she's quite familiar with the classic '60s tunes that populate writer/director Richard Curtis' rock and roll comedy, "Pirate Radio." "I literally grew up listening to it, I did. I think most British kids do, don't they? Well, most British kids grow up listening to that sort of stuff just because it's such great music," said Riley at the film's press day.
