Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner Interviews - The Avengers
Marvel gathered members of the cast of the much-anticipated 2012 superhero film, The Avengers, at Disney's D23 Expo to show off some footage from superhero movie. On hand to promote the film were Robert Downey Jr ('Iron Man'), Chris Hemsworth ('Thor'), Scarlett Johansson ('Black Widow'), Jeremy Renner ('Hawkeye'), Tom Hiddleston ('Loki'), and Cobie Smulders ('Maria Hill'), as well as President of Marvel Studios Kevin Fiege (writer/director Joss Whedon was busy finishing up the last two weeks of filming and couldn't make the event). And although all of the cast was greeted with applause, it definitely got louder when Downey Jr was introduced.
Disney and Marvel premiered a four minute clip (not a teaser trailer) for the 4,000+ fans showing Loki (Hiddleston) locked in a secure room with Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) warning him not to try and escape (and telling him the room was designed for someone much stronger). Watching from a separate room are Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor, Black Widow and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), with Banner observing, "He really grows on you." Next, the clip revealed Tony Stark talking to Loki and saying, "Let's do a head count." Shots of Hawkeye and Black Widow are shown as Stark labels them world class assassins. Then a clip of Thor while Stark says, "A demigod," followed by a clip of Captain America who Stark says is a living legend who actually lives up to the legend. Loki tells Stark that he has his own army and Stark responds, "We have a Hulk." Touché.
In addition to saying hi to fans (that's all they had time to do as theirs was the last film of the lengthy presentation), the cast stopped backstage for short interviews to answer more Avengers questions. Paired up, Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr talked about the ensemble cast while Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner discussed their characters and working with Joss Whedon:
