Since youve done this studio movie now, is it going to be easy to go back to independent films?
Mark Polish: I think so because its still, at the end of the day, its still hard work. Youre still making the same decisions you were making with no money. You still have a limited amount of time.
Michael Polish: It was $12 million to make this movie in 33 days. Northfork was 24 days, our last picture. So, you know, 9 days difference and it didnt feel any different.
You said you have 10 scripts written. How do you decide which comes next?
Mark Polish: We have small stuff, we have big stuff.
Michael Polish: I think audiences like that we do stuff thats different so we have a need to fulfill to bring our stories. Our next storys just bigger. Its nice to get bigger. We needed a canvas thats a little bit bigger for the next one so it will be a bigger budget. If the studio said, No, we cant do it, wed go make a $2 million movie. Wed do that, too. Budgets are not going to dictate our movies. They never had.
Are you always going to be partners?
Mark Polish: So far, so good. We dont go into it saying, Hey, were going to do the next picture or whatever. If an acting job comes up, then But were having a good time.
Michael Polish: We enjoy each others company. Its always good to have someone by you that understands. And you know, were going from city to city doing this and its real fun to have company.
