Andrew Garfield takes over the role of Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man, the fourth film based on the popular comic book series to be released in the past decade. Directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer), this latest webslinger tale is an origin story, with the hows and whys of Peter Parker's transformation explored.
At the 2011 Comic Con in San Diego - and before he took to the stage to show off clips and answer questions from fans - Garfield talked to About.com about what sets this Peter Parker apart from other incarnations of the character. Garfield also discussed the reasoning behind retelling an origin story:
