Another huge movie Brendan Fraser’s been keeping busy with is Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D from first time feature film director Eric Brevig. Brevig has three decades of visual effects experience to his credit (and two Oscar nominations) and makes the transition to the director’s chair on this 3D action-adventure film. Fraser’s seen much of the movie already and is impressed with Brevig and the 3D technology used to bring the story alive.

“We saw the movie as we were shooting it because it was all in real time. This is the first time that this technology has been used to create a 3D narrative, feature length. There is CGI incorporated into it, however it's the first time it's been done. As far as cinematography, they were Cameron/Pace Fusion cameras. They were on loan because Eric Brevig has a great relationship with Jim [Cameron] and his vast knowledge, post and special effects, comes from least of all doing Star Wars and working at ILM for years.”

“I assure you, it's going to astound,” declared Fraser. “People have seen 3D, the past use of it was as a gimmick or to get people back into the cinemas or get them away from television. Occularly, it gave people nausea and they stopped doing it. Well, the technology is in place again now where you can watch this and be satisfied by the images you see, and not feel like you're just being taken on a gratuitous roller coaster ride. This is just a prediction, but if you read up on it enough, you'll see. Jim has theaters converting to digital, primarily, or they will be. I'm hoping the day doesn't come when film goes the way of the Dodo entirely, but it's film - it's there.”

“Lucasfilms, I believe, is going to do an entire library, re-releasing it in 3D. I've actually seen 15 minutes of Darth Vader entering and capturing Leia. The best part was that some of the extras were running around and they were wearing helmets and stuff, and because it's in 3D, you see so much detail. You can see that one of the extras, he looks like a construction worker's helmet that someone had taken a blowtorch to to sort of melt it to make it look different. You see that it was yellow on the inside and spray painted on the outside. So it'll have real charm going backward.”
