On Auditioning for Roles Written for Men: "Well why not? I audition for guys stuff a lot, for authoritarian characters. Theyll say, Oh, throw some women into the mix, and every once in a while Ill get one."
Jane Lynch on Working With Steve Carell: "Hes just a rock-solid improviser so I feel so safe when Im improvising with him. Ive known him for a long time and hes always been a notch above everybody else - and the nicest guy in the room."
On Losing It While Filming: Some of her "The 40 Year Old Virgin" co-stars admitted they occasionally failed to make it through particular scenes without ruining a take because they were laughing. However Lynch prides herself on being able to stay in control and not crack up. Lynch said, "That hasnt happened yet and I hope it never does. You dont want to screw it up because you cracked up. But it was hard sometimes because some funny stuff was happening."
Jane Lynch on the "Virgin" DVD: Lynch said she worked on a few scenes specifically for the DVD. "I have a couple of scenes with Seth Rogen that we improvised where were just kind of hanging out bored at the store. Were talking about buying pot and other silly things and they'll end up in the DVD. Theyre pretty funny."
Jane Lynch on Her Upcoming Projects: "Im doing Will Ferrells new movie where he plays a NASCAR driver." Lynch said she'll be playing Will Ferrell's mom in the as-of-yet-untitled comedy. And she disclosed she'll be reuniting with Christopher Guest for a movie he'll begin shooting in October.
