Christian Bale as Connor:

“There are a few instances in this film where we have two and 3 page scenes that we play in one shot – one shot where it's just the camera moving very, very slowly in on Bale, very methodically. And you see an actor in such command of his instrument. It's just breathtaking. He chooses where he elects to take a breath, where he decides to blink. He such command and such total immersion as an actor, it's really something to watch."

Does John Connor Know Kyle Reese is His Father in Terminator Salvation?:

"Indeed. John Connor has been told by his mother, Sarah, to protect Kyle and send him back, but he cannot tell Kyle the role he plays. He must lead by example. In our film, you see the true Biblical and dictionary definition of salvation, to show that young Kyle Reese that 10 years from now when he has a chance to say, 'I'll go,' and they go, 'But wait, if you go you can never come back,' – 'I'll go' – this is the movie of how he learns to make that choice. And of course he couldn't say what his role was because, after all, as a guy if you told him your role was to go back and bang the girl – he'd f—k it up! You say, 'You've got to go back and save her.' 'I've got a shot.' He'd flounder and panic and Michael Biehn would have been lame, so he has to keep that a secret."

On the Possibility of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor Narrating the Film:

"What does this room think? Who wants to hear Linda Hamilton via the tapes that we all know she left in order to educate her son in regard to what he must do to survive bring us in and out of the movie and articulate the rules of the movie? Who wants that? [lots of clapping and hands raised in approval] I like the idea of Sarah Connor, by virtue of the tapes she's left behind, bringing us into the film and talking about… And also, who has children in this room? I don't, but I would imagine you would die for your kid. That's the story of this movie. It doesn't make sense, which of course the fatal error of Skynet. Skynet does not understand that principle."

You Don't Know the End of This Movie:

"The truth is there's probably only four people in the world who know the end of the movie, three of them are in here – Moritz, Dan [Lin, producer], me, and then Bale. Because we built in several ways to express the out of this picture prior to getting into the notion of time travel, which is of course an interesting thing that can be explored in the world of Skynet."

"The ending of this picture, let me be the first to say it's elliptical. It's going to make a lot of people mad. It's going to have a lot of people scratching their heads. It's not a disposal, 'Yeah!!!! I forgot about it before I even got to the car,' ending. It's going to make you think, give pause, and that's that Bale influence for lack of a better way of putting it."
