Sam Huntington – ‘Jimmy Olsen’

When you do a movie like this, is it a foreign experience for an actor?
Sam Huntington: “Absolutely. Completely intimidating. But I was working with people that I trusted and who I fell completely in love with, so that made it much less intimidating. It was just fun and I got lucky. I played a part that was so me and open and fun and cool. But because it's so huge, it's like this machine. As soon as you give up to the fact that you have no control over it and you just do the best you can, it's just another movie. After a week it got normal.”

What have you heard about the sequel?
Sam Huntington: “I know the whole plot and I'm going to tell you now. I know nothing. I don't think they've even started writing it. I think it's just in its infancy.”

Will you be back?
Sam Huntington: “Oh yeah. I mean, if they'll have me. I'm signed on so, if they have Jimmy Olsen in the second one, hopefully it'll be me.”

Are you an actor who figures out how this is Jimmy Olsen's story?
Sam Huntington: “This is a secret I only tell a few people. It's really only ever about me. Ever. Ever, ever. And it's very obvious to whoever works with me that it's just going to be the Sam show. And they can do their thing and it's fine but ultimately, no. I actually think there's something on the DVD with me saying something very similar to that so people are going to think I'm this ridiculous chauvinist.”

There's one extended sequence at the bar. Is there other stuff you shot that got left out?
Sam Huntington: “I was pretty lucky. You're always going to cringe at your own work. That's just kind of the way of an actor, I think. You're always critical of yourself and you always think you can do better. But I was lucky because I think most of my stuff, my scenes stayed in. Pieces of scenes were cut a la the one that's on the DVD. Pieces of scenes are cut up, but the majority of stuff actually stayed in. I've been saying it's probably just because I'm that good.”

What trouble can Jimmy get into in the next movie?
Sam Huntington: “Hopefully some kind of trouble where he has to be rescued and fly.”

Maybe he’ll fall over the Hoover Dam?
Sam Huntington: “That sounds so familiar to me. No, I want to fall out of a… I'm just hoping I fall out of a building or something, something where he has to catch me and pick me up and go.”

You didn't have to do any special effects scenes in Superman Returns, did you?
Sam Huntington: “One scene in the Daily Planet where the kind of s**t hits the fan. It was so much fun because it was not rigorous. It was just kind of like this huge, tremendous shot, one shot really with eight different cameras pointing at this one thing. So it was a little intimidating, but it was just fun.”

Is it different when you're acting for eight cameras?
Sam Huntington: “No. Because it was such a huge thought, there was pyrotechnics and sparks and earthquakes and stuff happening, it was pretty natural because I was s**tting myself. So that was good. But no, you just do it the same as you would any other way. You're aware of where everything is but other than that…”

When do you start getting back into Jimmy Olsen shape?
Sam Huntington: “I'm going to be going in with Brandon. I gotta try and out bench him. No, honestly, I want to get in shape for the next one. …Hopefully for the next one I'll be a little bit more in shape.”

Should Jimmy Olsen be as beefy as Superman?
Sam Huntington: “It's going to be an all out brawl in the next one. There's going to be some serious stuff going on between the Man of Steel and myself, the new Man of Steel. The Man of Iron is what I'm going to call myself.”

Stephan Bender – ‘Young Clark Kent’

The DVD has an extended version of you discovering your powers. What was that experience like?
Stephan Bender: “Man, it was amazing. It really was. It was my first movie. Going to Australia to be in a movie, it was amazing. I just can't really say how much it meant to me to be even in this movie.”

How was the wirework?
Stephan Bender: “Well, some parts were uncomfortable but it was just so much fun that I really didn't think about it or anything. The stunt guys were so nice and everything, so just being able to be on a big roller coaster was awesome every single day so it's kind of cool."

Will we see more Young Clark in the next Superman movie?
Stephan Bender: “I don't know yet. They just said they're going to release the next one so I'm looking forward to seeing if they will.”
