Warner Bros is Set to Release "Superman Returns" in the IMAX Format

"Superman Returns," one of Warner Bros Pictures' tentpole movies of 2006, will be released simultaneously in IMAX and conventional theaters on June 30, 2006.

According to a statement issued by Warner Bros and IMAX Corporation, the 35mm version of "Superman Returns" will be digitally re-mastered to ensure high-quality image and sound in the IMAX format.

President of Domestic Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures, Dan Fellman, said, "'Superman Returns' is going to be an epic adventure, and by also offering the film in IMAX's format, we're giving audiences a unique way to experience the return of the Man of Steel. The IMAX theatre network is generating impressive box office returns for Warner Bros. Pictures, and we're excited to continue releasing more of our biggest films in IMAX's format."

Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment, added, "Bryan Singer is a cutting edge filmmaker, and when moviegoers experience his unique vision of Superman in IMAX theatres, they're going to feel like they are flying right alongside the Man of Steel - an event not to be missed next summer."

The Official "Superman Returns" Synopsis:

Following a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel comes back to Earth in the epic action-adventure "Superman Returns," a soaring new chapter in the saga of one of the world's most beloved superheroes. While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman (Brandon Routh) faces the heartbreaking realization that the woman he loves, Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth), has moved on with her life. Or has she? Superman's bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space.
