Whatever the studio decides, there's no denying Breaking Dawn is going to be the most CG-intense film of the series, with one of the lead characters in the book practically begging to be completely CG. In fact, the introduction of this character in the fourth book left a lot of fans questioning whether it would be possible to actually bring Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn to the big screen. That, and the fact the book is much more adult in tone than its three predecessors, makes Breaking Dawn the most difficult of the batch to adapt for the screen.
Stewart said she's expecting Breaking Dawn to start filming sometime this year. "That, probably November, but I don't know if it's going to be one or two."
Part of the hold up in declaring a two-part Breaking Dawn may have to do with the actors' contracts. Stewart's not sure if she's signed up for one or two more films. "I don't know, actually," admitted Stewart. "I can't imagine that they wouldn't want [two]. The story so completely warrants two films and it would suck to have to... It would be really disappointing to have to be able to just go, 'Okay, we have to lose this sequence and this scene and this sequence and this scene.' So I would like to do two movies but I really, to be perfectly honest, don't know what they’re going to do."
Coming Soon - The Runaways and K-11
Another project of Stewart's that generating a lot of interest is non-Twilight related, except for the fact one of her co-stars in the film, Dakota Fanning, is also in New Moon and will likely be in Breaking Dawn, barring any unforeseen complications. Stewart's performance in the Joan Jett biopic, The Runaways, created quite a bit of buzz when the film debuted at this year's Sundance Film Festival, and everyone will be able to check it out when the movie hits theaters on March 19th."We all knew if it did well that it would be a Sundance movie, but now it's being released. It became a bigger deal than we thought, which is always very exciting," said Stewart when asked if the attention she's getting over that performance is different than what she normally encounters. "I haven’t been getting like different attention. You just do interviews about your movie. I don't know... Sundance was awesome though. I love Sundance. It’s one of the only places that you can go and show your movie and then talk to 300 people who just saw it and they’re actually just sitting there honest, like, 'Yeah, we just saw it.' It’s just a different experience."
Also in the works - though delayed - is a collaboration with her mom, script supervisor Jules Mann-Stewart. The two are planning on making K-11 together, Jules as writer/director, Kristen as star.
"We’re trying to get it off the ground," explained Stewart. "If she called me right now and said, 'We’re making the movie,' I would be really excited. I guess the question how would it be to work with your mom...I mean we’re really close and then at the same time we’re really creatively very, very different. So I feel like it would be cool. I think that we could actually leave the family thing. I feel like we both like what we do so much that we could actually work on something and do something pretty cool."
