Twilight star Kristen Stewart isn't going to be taking any time off anytime soon. Stewart's currently filming Welcome to the Rileys in which she plays a stripper and the Twilight sequel New Moon was recently greenlit. Now word comes by way of The Hollywood Reporter that the busy Stewart will be taking on the role of Joan Jett in the biopic The Runaways.
The Runaways were an all-girl rock band featuring Jett and Lita Ford on guitar, Jackie Fox on bass, Sandy West on the drums, and Cherie Currie on keyboards as well as handling the vocals. Though the group stayed together less than half a dozen years, they were responsible for a couple of memorable hits - Cherry Bomb, Born to be Bad, and Is It Day or Night?.
Filming will likely take place in late 2009. Floria Sigismondi wrote the script and will make her feature film directorial debut with The Runaways.
