Guide Review - 'Step Brothers' Unrated DVD Review
The Story
Ferrell and Reilly play Brennan and Dale, two middle-aged lazy men who are unwillingly forced to live under the same roof - and in the same room - when Brennan's mom and Dale's dad get married.
The Bonus Features
The Step Brothers Unrated DVD features one of the most bizarre commentary tracks ever included on a DVD. Ferrell, Reilly, and director Adam McKay actually sing their way through the film's opening credits, and the madness doesn't stop when the credits finish... No, the threesome continue on with their made-up tunes well into the film. Then just when you think they've sung their last song, they bust out again in harmony. They never talk much about the film itself, and at one point NBA star Baron Davis joins them for the commentary and the whole thing becomes about basketball and not at all about Step Brothers. It's a totally insane way to do commentary, but it works because it's Ferrell, Reilly and McKay.The DVD also includes five extended/deleted scenes (including more of Ferrell and Reilly in bed bugging each other) and a full-length music video of the film's Boats 'N Hoes song. There's also a pretty funny gag reel and a Line-O-Rama in which the cast tries out different variations of lines in a dozen or so scenes. 'The Making of Step Brothers' featurette is just what you'd expect - cast interviews and insight into why the Talladega Nights gang got back together for this comedy.
