Jessica Biel was all smiles at the World Premiere of Stealth. Looking gorgeous after changing out of the military jumpsuits the cast and director wore when they arrived at the premiere, Biel joined her Stealth co-stars and director for a stroll down the red carpet, which was set up on the tarmac at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, CA.
Prior to taking in a special screening of the film, Biel spoke to me about why she chose to be a part of "Stealth:"
INTERVIEW WITH JESSICA BIEL:
What was the atmosphere like working on a predominately male set? Were there many females around to hang out with?
There wasnt many. There was a handful of great girls that I met on the set, but you know hanging with the boys wasnt so bad. Theyre alright (laughing).
Howd you spend your downtime? Did you three do anything special to bond?
You know, we just hung out and had barbeques at each others houses and went to the beach. Just did normal stuff to get to know each other really.
Stealth is an action movie that asks an interesting moral question. What do you think of the idea of machines replacing humans?
I think its a dangerous idea but it is probably our future, so well see.
How does Stealth separate itself from the action movie pack?
Well I think you said it right there. Its kind of got interesting moral questions that were asking. Its not just you know, blow em up, shoot em up, go war. Its not that at all. Were giving two sides pros of UCAVs and cons what do you guys think. Thats what were asking. And theres a love story thrown in there and a lot of great explosions and Jamie Foxx so
How would you describe your character in Stealth?
My characters name is Kara Wade and she is one of the most elite pilots in the whole world. Shes incredibly smart. Shes incredibly strong physically and mentally. And she can hang with the boys. Shes a kick-ass [women].
As the sole female, was your character ever the butt of the jokes?
Sometimes. But, you know, thats the good thing about my character. She doesnt stand for that crap. If she gets a joke played on her, shes going to give it right back to them.
Does her attitude reflect yours?
Definitely.
Was her strength what attracted you to the part?
I think definitely because of how strong of a female character she was, and I think shes a good role model for younger kids.
I like physical roles; I like the physicality of this. I like running around and getting covered in mud and jumping in water. Thats what I like so that was another plus. And then to work with Rob and Jamie and Josh. All the elements come together and if they come together right, then you want to jump onto something and thats what happened with this.
Director Rob Cohens done a few action films - "Fast and the Furious" and "XXX" - before this one. How was he to work with?
He was fantastic. He is such a fanatic about this film and hes so energetic and excited about it. It was great to come to work everyday. It was lovely, it was wonderful.
And working with Jamie Foxx?
Well, the movie was so fun and so challenging and working with Jamie was a blast. Hes fun and talented and professional, and you cannot ask for anything more than that.
